Flooring in Black Mountain

Newer hillside homes, walkouts and golf-course lots on Kelowna's east side.

The homes in Black Mountain

Black Mountain is largely 2000s and later: hillside two-storeys and walkout ranchers on view and golf-course lots, plus new construction still going in. The floors we replace are usually first-generation builder product, and the floors we install new are chosen by owners finishing a basement or upgrading a spec home to their taste. Sloped lots mean lower levels against the hill, which points to waterproof product downstairs.

Black Mountain is a fifteen-minute drive from the showroom, straight up from Rutland. It's one of our most frequent destinations for new-build upgrades and walkout basements.

Jobs we do most in Black Mountain

  • Finishing a walkout basement in waterproof vinyl plank
  • Upgrading a spec home's main floor from builder laminate to engineered hardwood
  • New carpet upstairs in a young family's two-storey
  • Tile with in-floor heat in a new ensuite

Floors that suit Black Mountain

  • Vinyl plank

Lower levels against the hillside, and any room where a spill or a slow leak would be a disaster on wood.

  • Engineered hardwood

Main floors with big windows and a view; acclimated on site before install.

  • Tile

Ensuites, entries and laundry, with heating where the plan calls for it.

Black Mountain flooring questions

Our basement is unfinished. Can you floor it before the walls are done?+
Better after. We'll coordinate with your other trades so the floor goes in once drywall and paint are complete, which protects the finish.
Does the hillside affect what floor we should use downstairs?+
Yes. Lower levels against a slope carry more moisture. We recommend a waterproof rigid-core vinyl plank or tile downstairs and keep hardwood for the main and upper floors.
How soon can you start?+
Most in-stock product is on the floor within a week of the estimate. Special orders run two to four weeks.
